Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard courts
A comeback the Russian player secured his first title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.
The win also signifies he has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one various events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.
His counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.
Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an better service.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a final set.
The opponent rescued four initial break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.
Fittingly, he secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
